In 1980, Elke M. Zander founded a small fashion label, named after her daughter who was only four years old at the time. Her concept was to create an exclusive collection of handmade knitwear whose attention to details and outstanding quality soon attracted a stylish clientele.
The line quickly evolved into a complete cashmere collection. Hot news in retail at first, it became a regular with exclusive boutiques all over Europe over the past two decades.
Antonia soon began to follow her mother’s steps. Still in college, she successfully completed an apprenticeship in tailoring and then got a designer diploma at ESMOD Berlin in 2001. She was trained with German designer Kostas Murkudis and Italian based knitwear label Nusco. Additional work experiences included costume design for film making and advertising, freelance styling for magazines as well as the design and tailoring of custom made evening and wedding gowns.
In 2005 Antonia Zander became creative director of the label which already held her name: Antonia Zander.
Following the tradition of the exclusive cashmere line she is determined to continue to meet the high standards of a strong and independent woman who loves understated luxury and prefers individual style to fashion trends.
