In 2004, Susie Crippen made her foray into the fashion industry and forever changed the global perception of premium denim. As co-founder of J Brand, Susie knew what she wanted to wear, so she went after it and created it herself – the clean, simple skinny jean that became a staple in closets around the world.
Having wanderlust in her heart, Susie left the company when it was sold in 2010 and travelled the world with a suitcase in hand. No matter where she went, Susie yearned for the same timeless silhouettes. The perfect dress for summer, the well-tailored trouser, the go-with-everything blazer; simple pieces that defied trends and you could wear time and time again. Realizing that she not only missed designing for her customer, Susie set out to create those essential pieces that were missing from her own wardrobe.
And so, CRIPPEN began.
Susie’s steadfast belief in the power of teaching yourself defines her role as CRIPPEN’s Creative Director. The culturally conscious line encourages women to feel empowered to do the same, and this mission is one CRIPPEN stands to support around the world.
