DIOR HOMME: Aesthetic Codes reinterpreted
Creative director Kris Van Assche describes the brand DIOR HOMME as a contemporary incarnation of traditional roots. Suits with flawless tailoring and casual sportswear determine the collection of 2016. In this way Van Assche continues his successful work for the luxury menswear brand DIOR HOMME.
The name DIOR stands for French luxury from Paris since its beginning in 1947: Elegant fashion and accessories, alluring fragrances, haute joaillerie, as well as horlogerie for women.
After launching the first collection for men in 1970, the Parisian house provides prêt-à-porter fashion, accessories, shoes and fragrances under the name DIOR HOMME. As part of the licensing business Partick Lavoix was the first to design suits and accessories for DIOR HOMME. Upon completion of this licensing business in 2000, DIOR HOMME was given a general overhaul by former YSL Homme designer Hedi Slimane.
Slimane initiated a radical rejuvenation and slimming down process of DIOR HOMME: His reinterpretation of the classic men's silhouette to an ultra slim designed Skinny Look has driven the sales of DIOR HOMME to unimagined heights. Monochrome colors in black, grey and white, narrow ties combined with even narrower lapels, as well as tight leather jackets combined with skinny jeans are setting new standards in menswear.
Slimane is the first designer for menswear to receive the International Prize of CDFA (Council of Fashion Designers of America). In the same year the new men's fragrance Addict was launched. DIOR HOMME also extended its portfolio by adding shoes and accessories.
After Slimane's exit in 2007, Belgian Kris Van Assche took over the helm: The silhouette becomes more soft. "I know the importance of comfort," states the designer about his work. Van Assche stands for dynamic flexibility and movement - without losing its contemporary elegance and extravagant design. Night blue or grey suits with elegant CD belts contrast with military motifs, camouflage patterns and denim.
Van Assche never forgets what defines DIOR HOMME: Highest quality craftsmanship, first class materials and the incomparable DIOR style.
