Chloé Autumn/Winter 2010 – 2011 BY hannah macgibbon Feline and sensual, the Chloé woman embodies luxury. Her instinct is to privilege comfort and the softness of noble fabrics. Her nonchalant attitude is inspired by a man’s wardrobe but retains a subtle and untamable femininity. Masculine coats and suits are interpreted with grace. supple Shoulders are constructed with precision. An enveloping silhouette unfolds a playful layering of fabrics and textures. Skillful masculine tailoring is contrasted with the casual ease of luxury sportswear. The long and fluid jersey dress defines an unexpected allure and the embroideries that sweep over velvets reveal a subtle couture spirit. Herringbone tweeds, flannels, Prince of Wales checks, dotted cravat silk are borrowed from the male wardrobe. They are softened by the sensuality of cashmeres, silk twills, washed satins, or an ethereal veil of wool. Total leather looks, fur coats and sweatshirts conjure a wild touch. The iconic Hannah MacGibbon palette of beiges ranges from tones of camel, oatmeal and shades of make-up warmed by nuances of autumn leaves and delicate animal prints. Heeled ankle-boots, reminiscent of those worn by English gentlemen, loafers and wedges are cut in natural leathers. A mix of refined materials, suede, mat leather, exotic skins and fabrics borrowed from ready-to-wear adorn high-heeled shoes, boots and sandals.
