‘Myths and monsters of Japan’, Evisu’s A/W 09 collection is most exciting and dramatic to date. Evisu’s trademark collections; Deluxe, Heritage and Mainline each take their own interpretation of the theme.

Deluxe – ‘Saburo-Tokyo’

Evisu Deluxe Autumn/Winter 2009 is inspired by the mysteries of Japanese Zen Buddhism. Colours are drawn from monks’ naturally-dyed robes and the garments are designed to be worn layered like the intricately wrapped sheets which become clothing. As is Evisu Deluxe’s speciality, the fabrics are world class, including silk-cotton shirting, silk-wool knitted jerseys (lined with silk), and wool-cotton suit fabrics from Nikke in Osaka Japan, fantastic denim from our favourite family-run, artisan mill, Kuroki, and luxurious double-faced wool cashmere over coating. We are also proud to present jeans and a tailored suit in unique angora denim, woven in Japan from rabbit fur!

Heritage – ‘Noh Theatre’

Noh Theatre has been central to Japanese tradition for at least 700 years. Demon Plays, where the main characters, known as SHITE are all demons and devils. The actors playing the SHITE all wear terrifying wooden masks representing their character, and there are no rehearsals. Apart from the very traditional Noh research, we also took a look at very veteran vintage valuables from Wrangler western wearable’s. Mainline - ‘Black Soul’

Evisu’ Mainline had developed into a more sophisticated collection with the emphasis on clean and versatile silhouettes. Contemporary graphics and compliment the dark mood of the seasonal theme, to be seen in the tees with dramatic fading colours and in a deep purple leather jacket to be worn with the perfect vintage jeans. A sharp and eye-catching collection to be worn night or day mixed and matched with smart or casual breaking down all conventional barriers.

As always the cut, the fabric, the colour, the finish, the wash, the quality, the material, combines Evisu’s Japanese heritage with cutting-edge trends and individuality of design and finish.
