Backed by some of the biggest names in the action sports, art, and music communities, each season the Zoo Crew proudly presents a diverse collection inspired by the heart and soul of Zoo York – skateboarding, graffiti, hip-hop, punk rock, military, and the harsh realities of everyday life in the gritty city.
For Spring 2010, Zoo York continues to bring the killer graphics with inspirations ranging from an Underground Secret Society to 60’s comic book covers to War Potests and our very own Racketeering club. The Zoo York cut & sew product has been elevated yet again with mature fabrications that have texture for dimension. Flannel fabric is back again with a lighter construction Ideal for the Spring months. Woven tops and outerwear are also key categories for this season. Our plaids will speak for themselves with amazing color and punch, and our outerwear is lightweight and functional with revisited tried & true silhouettes that have been updated with utmost attention to detail, especially in the trims. The classic Zoo coach’s jacket finds a new life this season with micro gingham in fresh colors. Spring windbreakers come in subtle prints, new micro rip stop fabrics and the ZODIAC features a new zip-down convertible hood. Tonal herringbone stripes, along with updated trims and taping help to keep all interiors smart and clean. Our non-denim bottoms are kept clean and classic with the emphasis on the finishing. Branding has been revised to include cleaner, smarter labeling, and interiors have been given much more attention. Several offerings keep the line fresh. Spring 2010 brings mature micro ginghams and plaids, street proven cargo shorts and poly/cotton twill work shorts and pant. Boardshorts have been redesigned with careful consideration given to time spent in the water. Inner seams are smoother, fabrics lighter, design lines less complicated. Bulk at the center front closure has been reduced to allow more comfort for longer periods while surfing. Trims have been revised to allow cleaner branding with fewer bulky seams, and zippered pockets allow added functionality and security in the waves. GRAPHICS OVERALL GRAPHIC THEME Surrounded by everything that is life in NYC the Zoo Crew pulls the seasons graphics inspiration from the scenes and events of daily life here in Gotham. • The dynamic type and colors of hand painted signs and advertisements from Brooklyn bodegas, diamond stores and street corners. • 60's comic book covers and type treatments we bought from a comic book nerd selling $2 comics from his trunk at Union Square. • Free masonry, Illuminati and tri lateral commission are just a few of the secret societies that led us to create one of our very own. Discover the secret world of the Underground Zoo York Society. Pulling from the different graphic languages as well as the texture of various manuscripts, furniture and costumes we put forth Pyramid, third eyes, astrology and astrophysical artwork and Introduce reversed terry, fleck fabrics and mélange yarns. • With the economic meltdown on everyone’s mind we’ve been feeling a lot of revolutionary energy flowing through the city streets. This group is about rebellion. Woodstock inspired poster, strong slogans, vandalism, graffiti and bold Icons. • Spring is here and the Zoo Racketeering Club is finally re-opening! We live in the grimy streets of New York but we like to wear crisp colorful and sporty outfit to check the Hampton girls coming in town to shop. We put our shoplifting game together and go hit the fancy stores to rack the latest colorful striped hoody, a dope Henley with a bold team number on the back, a bird’s eye hoody, a sweet poplin flannel, and coming out of our exclusive club, a silk screen tee shirt with our crossed racking tools. • Calligraphy is always a key inspiration for us whether it's graffiti, renaissance calligraphy or old manuscripts. We team up with top-notch graffiti artist and calligrapher such as Stupid (zoo crew), Gorey from Paris and Bean One from Italy to come correct on fleece and tees. The rest is 100% unbreakable and timeless ZY DNA. New York Street snap shots, hip-hop to punk rock, Angry King Kong and all the weird things that happen every New York Minute. We out...
