all the creations found at hannes roether convey the same message: the most important thing about clothing is the wearer and not the clothes. the hannes roether look is clearly defined (but not limited) by innovative knit, as well as heavy traditional workingwear fabrics and leather. both of these component , as well as the pure and reduced silhouette, are made for the wearer to move freely and make his pieces into a part of their personality. it’s not an outfit that is created. every piece is for the wearer to combine and incorporate into his personal look.
the stilist himself – who does not see himself as a fashion designer – launched his own brand in 2005. in 2007 he introduced his womenswear line, which is being created in a collaboration with his wife nicky wendt.
the creator himself as well as the brand stay in the background: not only are the selectiv distbution channels carefully chosen, but can also be found all around the world with retailers such as baycrew’s in tokyo, brooklyn denim in new york and traffik in moscow. the creator himself is omnipresent without showing his face: “go to see my stores and you will find me there in any element.”
“it’s not about fashion, it’s about clothing. something real, something honest. ” - hannes roether
