My creations are manufactured exclusively with South American luxury yarns. So-called “camelide wool” - wool from lamas, vicunas, alpacas - is highly flexible and perfectly suited to my creative ideas. These materials are highly wearable and tough while looking precious and fitting snugly. The velvety camelide wool is won in the animals’ countries of origin, specifically in the Andes region of Bolivia and Peru, and is as precious as cashmere. In order to reach my personal standards of sustainability, I work with select manufacturers that pay seamstresses fairly and shear animals in accordance with CITES (convention on international trade in endangered species) certification. My customers can trust that KARINFRAIDENRAIJ provides responsible fashion.

My individual sense of fashion and style has been shaped by my many travels. Born in Argentina, my work as a runway model took me to many European fashion centers before I came to live in Germany. Since I’m still very much a globetrotter, I am influenced by traveling through different cultures and countries the whole world over. This results in the combination of various modern trends with classic elements in exciting yet harmonious designs. I love straight lines and simple silhouettes with diversified embroidery, be it Asian elements, South American patterns or romantic details. Every model that I design is manufactured by hand and thus one of a kind. The minutest irregularities found in a handmade item make it unique and authentic.

There are three lines to the KARINFRAIDENRAIJ label: “Loving the Lama” – exclusive, uncolored, unique pieces made from fine lama wool „Lama classic | limited edition“ – made from baby lama wool, a luxury yarn, that produces a very light yet heat insulating fabric. „Lama classic | Scarves“ – a collection of scarves made from baby alpaca wool. These hand-woven scarves with Indian macarame patterns are extremely lightweight but wonderfully warm.
