Lara Khoury was born in Beirut, in January 1985. Eighteen years later, she decided to join the Ecole Superieure de la Mode de Paris (ESMOD) with her unique passion of drawing the world and dressing its residents while creating universes of textile. Her desire grew with every pull of - thread and needle - It concretized in September 2006 when she joined Elie Saab in Beirut and the world of Haute Couture, Pret-a-porter, fashion and all the dynamics of the industry. It was not long before this desire for fashion took a life of its own. Lara Khoury decided to start expressing her own creations and exploring her sensitivity, thereby creating the brand ILK between 2008 and 2009. At the same time, her very first pieces were put forth to the general public in Starch (Saifi Village), Rabih Kayrouz's laboratory for new ideas and a showroom for young Lebanese designers.
In 2010, the enthusiasm of the press and the audience was heightened, and the artist found the self-confidence to launch her first eponymous collection ; Lara Khoury becomes Lara Khoury and settles in the center of Beirut, in a showroom/workshop on Gouraud street.
Today, the fashion designer has found herself a space, intimate and personal, crucial and essential to obtain certain plenitude, a different creation, with the wish to transmit and share what we call, sensitivity and emotion.
Lara Khoury's style is sincere, bold, moving and minimalist. It involves a young and experimental trend, continuously concerned with detail, and carrying a passion for innovation and freedom.
On May 2011, Lara was selected to represent Lebanon in the second generation of the Maison Mediterraneenne des Metiers de la Mode in Marseille (France). This program subsists a platform of artistic and cultural cooperation between Euro-Mediterranean countries. A unique concept yet to come, MMMM's mission is to unite, reveal and support young fashion designers based on both sides of the Mediterranean Sea, offering them Master Class between Marseille and Paris, with renowned icons of the international fashion scene (including Dior and Chanel), as well as others from the creative and economic identity of Marseille (Department of Economics, Industry and Employment, Department of Culture and Communication, Marseille Provence 2013, European Capital of Culture...)
In 2011, on the west shore of the White Sea, Lara Khoury takes time to develop her techniques, her network and her knowledge not so far from her hometown, definitely oriental but also able to appreciate civilizations from all around the world.
