Maria Black trained for 4 years as an apprentice with a master jeweller in Copenhagen and graduated as a Goldsmith in 2009 with highest honours. After winning a grant and a handshake from HRH Queen Margrethe of Denmark, she set about to create her first collection in London and started her eponymous line in the summer of 2010. The idea and aim of MBJ was to approach designing precious metal jewellery with the playfulness and vast fashion freedom from the Bijoux world.
Pinpointing a gap in the market for the fashion forward woman who’s interested in fashion jewellery but cought out between either expensive or really cheap conventional pieces - MBJ has quickly become the number one choice for the fashionable, sleek and playful woman of our age. Combining the precision, craftmanship and skill from her training with an open mind towards what’s allowed in the design of precious metals is the back bone of MBJ.
MBJ uses sterling silver to create interchangeable pieces - rings that go on the top of your finger and stack up to different shapes, they might even double up as toe rings, earrings that are sold separately and can be combined together with her signature earcuffs to make the statement your looking for. Living and working in London is MB's inspiration and drive, but the sought after look of danish design is evident in all MBs jewellery and the company is based in Copenhagen.
