WHO WE ARE
In the American university “Campuses” in the second half of the sixties, there was a real rebellion against certain kinds of educational authoritarianism.
The so-called “Generational Revolution” crossed the ocean, starting in France and then moving towards Italy and the rest of Europe in a huge student movement in 1968.
After this date, relations between teachers and students were no longer the same, and the breadth of the revolution was logically felt beyond the educational world.
In fact, during these years, also owing to certain mythical figures such as Elvis Presley, James Dean and Marlon Brando, there was another great revolution in the way young people dressed with the arrival of Jeans and T-shirts.
It was in this period, and precisely in 1967 that Meeting introduced their first printed T-shirts onto the market, but lets go back a step or two before this.
In 1958, only 17 years old, Raimondo Tauro became a rising athlete in high jumping when he cleared the two metre mark and entered onto the national circuit. These were the years of the international athletic meetings and the ritual of changing clothing items; logically at a level of image and quality the most sought-after items were those of the American athletes. From this tradition an idea came about, materializing during an encounter between Raimondo Tauro and his age old friend Renato Vendramel. In the meantime, Renato had frequented the prestigious “Industrial Design” Institute in Venice where his teachers were important designers of the graphical and designing sectors in Milan (Bellini, Zanuso, Vinelli, Van Honck, etc). It was from this strong friendship that the great challenge of the Meeting brand was born, in 1967.
The two young entrepreneurs of course couldn’t imagine their future path, but their first collection already marked an important phase: those printed T-shirts in English that reproduced an Italian version of the American campuses, were a real revolution for those times.
Since then, the Meeting Group Spa has continued to gather success, as seen in the DEHA brand launched over the past years. DEHA, dedicated to dancewear in all of its forms, is the technical sponsor of the well known television show “AMICI” by Maria De Filippi, and one of the leading companies on the market, becoming a must for youths and children.
Today the Meeting Group crosses the forties threshold with the realization and consciousness that challenges are made for improving and asserting oneself. A concept from the world of sport that is constantly translated into the collections produced every year.
