For fourth generations, the Merola family has been involved in the production and sales of leather gloves. Since their departure from Napoli in 1870, the Merola name had become a well-known name all over Italy with eleven shops located in Napoli, Roma, Firenze, Venezia, and factory with a tannery in Napoli.
In the late 60’s, Alberto Merola, nephew of Leopoldo, one of the founding members, entered the Company and helped regain international attention for “Merola” gloves, a “Made in Italy” product that is handmade using traditional artisan techniques.
In its Rome headquarters the Company employs 3 persons, whilst the manufacturing takes place in one location where 59 other persons work under the technical direction of Alberto Merola. The total annual manufacturing capacity is 20.000 pairs of gloves, which are distributed throughout Italy and worldwide.
Merola has supplied gloves to European Royal families and the Imperial family of Japan. The Company is proud to supply its gloves to the best shops in the world, from Holland & Holland in London, to Bergdorf Goodman in New York - as well as Brioni, Kiton, Testoni, Fratelli Rossetti, Isetan, Mitsukoshi and Samsung Fashion to name but a few.
Even Lotus and Lamborghini choose Merola for their gloves. Merola gloves can also be seen worn by film stars in such as: Kate Winslet in Titanic, Nikole Kidman in Australia, Matt Damon in The Talented Mr. Ripley and Mel Gibson in The Patriot.
