Boomerang was registered as a company in 1976 by two young enthusiasts and entrepreneurs from Stockholm, Kenneth Andram and Peter Wilton. Right from the outset, they drew up plans for a Scandinavian brand of premium quality casual clothes. The first spring collection presented a range of piqués, cotton shirts, oxford shirts, cord and canvas trousers solid or in stripes. Clothes that to this day still form the basis of the Boomerang range and style that we call Scandinavian Preppy.
The first Boomerang store was opened in Örebro at the end of the 80's, followed shortly afterwards by the first store in Stockholm with a revered Birger Jarlsgatan address. A series of stores in Gothenburg, Malmö and Jönköping then followed in quick succession.
In 1999, the first Women’s collection was finally launched; chinos, sweaters, blouses and jackets. The new line quickly became a success.
The first Junior collection was introduced in 2008; durable, practical garments for boys and girls between the ages of 3-13, clothes for a totally new generation of preppies. At the same time, the Boomerang Effect was also introduced, a contribution to a better world and a way to counteract worn clothing being thrown away.
As a natural continuation of the Boomerang Effect, 2009 saw the premier for Boomerang Home, an interior design collection where recycled garments were collected and utilized. For example, they were used as cushions on stools and benches or as rag-rugs.
Today, almost thirty-five years since the company was founded, Boomerang is a well-known Scandinavian brand with distribution in 6 countries, with 32 privately-owned shops and more than 200 specially selected retailers. Every season, through our collections, Man, Woman and Junior, we present a complete wardrobe with clothes and accessories for all occasions.
