In 1966, the Van Doren Rubber Company opened for business in Anaheim, CA. Soon, Vans’ simple canvas shoes became a staple at the beach and throughout Southern California. Not long after, SoCal teens found that Vans’ sticky gum rubber sole and sturdy construction made the shoes perfect for skateboarding; making Vans the world’s first skate shoe company.
More than 45 years later, Vans still strives to create durable footwear for those that value quality and freedom of expression. Those beach staples have evolved into a full line of Vans Classics that pay homage to our surf and skate heritage.
