VAVA MUSIC PROJECT | JUAN ATKINS
Vision and Sound define VAVA imaginary.
VAVA is inspired by the post-industrial world, embodied in both Detroit and Berlin; places that embrace techno music and transform it into a brilliant sonic constellation. This cultural rebirth is both visual and aural, and can be seen in the artistry of vinyl and musical production. Techno is conceptual and its artists are visionaries, welcoming intuitive and magical perception in order to propel to action processes of metamorphosis and revolution.
The conceptualism of the brand lies in this principle because techno is conceptual and visionary in its essence.
Our vision is one of self-expression in a post- industrial society and a belief in our belonging to a post-human age. This project is an opportunity to express the brand mood, culturally, artistically and socially, with acute emphasis on sound and space.
VAVA loves music and the label has a great connection to music.
MUSIC PROJECT is a space of collaboration with musicians who share VAVA’s views of the new millennium. In this space people are invited to discover the spirit of VAVA.
VAVA will provide a web environment that encourages rewarding exchanges between artists, music lovers and fans. The audience will understand more deeply what VAVA believes and envisions.
VAVA is very fond of METROPLEX Records and particularly the work of Juan Atkins. We believe that VAVA shares many of Atkins "visions". The prospect of sharing our vision with Juan Atkins was really exciting.
To that end, VAVA invited, as its first artist, Juan Atkins for an interview and photo-shooting in Berlin. The result of this collaboration can be seen in MUSIC PROJECT in VAVA web page.
JUAN ATKINS
Born in Detroit, he is widely credited as the origi- nator of techno music.
Juan Atkins represents Detroit and Techno for the rest of the world.
At the dawn of the 1980s, Juan Atkins began recording what stands as perhaps the most influential body of work in the field of techno. His sonic innovations with Cybotron, Model 500, Audio Tech and Darkside, to name a few, translate Detroit’s post-industrial creative landscape into a model for change and transformation. Inspired by experimental and funky electronic music from around the world, and meta- physical ideas of utopian future, Juan set to creat- ing an electronic soundscape for Detroit and called this new sound Techno.
Atkins has proven Detroit and Techno to be symbols of prosperity through rebirth, and catalyst for change. He re-envisions the Future of Detroit and of the World as a thriving Metroplex of culture, social, and economic prosperity naming it Techno City.
Atkins keeps us in the moment as he challenges us to consider our future in the Techno City.
