JOSEPH MENSWEAR SPRING/SUMMER 2015

This season’s collection takes inspiration from the book ‘Brooklyn Gangs’ by photographer Bruce Davidson.

We love the feeling of the series, which follows a close-knit gang of boys in the summer of 1959. There’s a real freedom and youthful spirit to the images, providing a natural link to the JOSEPH house codes.

Glove leather t-shirts are combined with knitted shorts; Rayon silk Harrington’s – the classic 50’s American sports jacket – styled with voluminous double-pleat pants; kimono-sleeved shirts layered over the new classic white tee; and knits layered upon knits.

The colour palette combines ecru knitwear, navy cottons and silks, along with military gabardines, glove leathers and coral rayon inspired by bomber jacket linings.

All over prints have been developed derived from elements of Davidson’s images giving the collection added spirit.

THE JOSEPH HISTORY

The Joseph empire started in 1972 by the inimitable Joseph Ettedgui as a place where a vibrant and eclectic crowd of the fashion industry’s most interesting icons gathered to share ideas and inspiration. Renowned for his eccentric personality, Joseph launched his namesake label, soon after as an extension of his creative concept.

His sleek and streamlined designs were met with instant acclaim. With a vision of clean and sharp lines, the collection of tailored silhouettes gained recognition for its modern and minimalist approach. Joseph was revered throughout the industry for pioneering the movement.
Just as its original stores were places to meet and share ideas, attracting designers, models, editors and photographers, JOSEPH is once again a focus for creativity, somewhere to find inspiration.

At the same time the JOSEPH collection has entered a new phase, drawing renewed strength from the energy around it. Under the creative direction of Louise Trotter, Joseph presents a high contemporary ready-to-wear collection with a strong core of luxury essentials.
